I personally would not buy one, and I certainly wouldn't trade a U-boat for one. In my opinion, TW Steel almost blatantly copies U-boat in their designs. We decided to take a look at 3 of their more recent releases in this category with the Capsoil Titanio, the Capsoil Doppiotempo, and the Darkmoon 40 - All featuring a unique oil filled dial and deep domed crystal. The Welder watches are very cool, I bought one from Ernie here at watchuseek. The brand founded by Italo Fontana a couple decades ago, based on designs by his grandfather, Ilvo Fontana, has blazed a new direction. Welder is a sister brand, created by Italo Fontana, creator of U-boat. They are quite capable of being very accurate.įinally, TW Steel is most certainly NOT a sister brand or even affiliated in any way with U-boat. You can probably get that watch within 2 seconds a day or so. So, if your watch is running faster than that, I would take it in and have the dealer or a watchmaker look it over and adjust it. My U-boat was running about +4/5 seconds a day, which I would consider outstanding. Mechanical watches are not nearly as accurate as quartz watches, but, as almost anyone here would argue, they're way cooler. And yes, if you wear it daily you'll never have to wind it. You could invest in a watch winder if you wear it infrequently and setting the watch bugs you. Well, the Classico is an automatic with something like a 30-38 hour power reserve, so if you don't wear it for a while, it will definitely stop. What are people's thoughts on this? They look very similar to the U-Boat and I've been told that they are sister brands? Was there something wrong with the watch or am I missing something?ģ) Am thinking of getting the quartz TW Steel instead. Please could someone help me here as I cannot find anything on the web and am seriously considering returning the watch (don't want to as I love the looks). But then come Tuesday, the time will be all wrong (time seems to move too quick) :-s Why does this happen? ie I wind it up on a Monday morning and wear it to work. I find that the watch loses its accuracy. How often do I have to wind it up as it seems quite annoying that sometimes when I get in at night the watch has stopped and I have to wind it up and then set the time againo|Īm I correct in assuming that if I wear it everyday, I won't have to wind it up?Ģ) This is my major problem with it. (please excuse my stupidness, am a mechanical virgin -))ġ) I don't wear it daily, probably three-four times a week. I am used to using quartz watches, and am finding a few problems with the U-Boat. It does not store any personal data.I recently got into watches (they were there to just tell the time before:roll especially military style BIG watches:-dĪnd after selling my Gucci "G" watch to raise some funds, I recently invested in a U-Boat Classico AS1 from Selfridges which I love the look of, but am having a few problems.
